Fantasylife Privacy Policy

The FantasyLife service ("FantasyLife") is a blogging & social networking site - it exists to promote sharing and community. But when you share any information through a service like FantasyLife, it's important to remember that you are potentially sharing it with the entire world. The information you submit to FantasyLife may be accessible to anyone who visits your FantasyLife site (including people who are not registered FantasyLife users), or through search engines, mobile devices, and a variety of other devices and services. It may also be copied and redistributed by anyone who has access to it. Also, visit www.OnGuardOnline.gov for social networking safety tips for parents and youth.

We take your privacy seriously and so should you. FantasyLife has many features designed to help you manage your information and control how it is shared with others. This privacy policy discusses how personal information is collected and disclosed through FantasyLife, as well as the tools available to help you control your information.

Children

Children under 16 are not allowed to register for FantasyLife accounts. It is FantasyLife’s policy not to collect information from children under 16.

If you are the Parent or Legal Guardian of a child under 16 who has become a FantasyLife member please e-mail FantasyLife to have the account closed.

For more information about protecting your child's privacy online, please visit the "OnGuard Online" website maintained by the Federal Trade Commission.

Information Collected By Fantasylife

FantasyLife may collect certain information from you as described below. FantasyLife uses the information it collects for authentication purposes, to customize the advertising and content you see, to fulfill your requests for products and services, to provide aggregated, anonymous reporting for FantasyLife or third parties, to improve our services, and to communicate with you as part of the FantasyLife service.

Registration - Required Information

When you register for a FantasyLife account, FantasyLife requires you to provide the following information:

  • Password - required for signing into your FantasyLife account. Your password provides access to all of the information in your account, so never share your password with anyone except a parent or guardian.
  • Email Address – an email address is required so that FantasyLife can contact you about your account. In addition, FantasyLife has several features through which information may be forwarded to this email address - including messages or invitations from other FantasyLife users, alerts, or logs of activity related to your account. You can control whether you receive certain of these emails by using the settings inside your FantasyLife account.
Your email address is never publicly displayed on FantasyLife. But when you email someone through FantasyLife, your email address will be revealed to them (e.g. as the "from" or "reply to" address on the email you send through FantasyLife). In addition, FantasyLife has a search feature that allows others to search for you by your email address, but you can control whether you appear in these search results by using the settings inside your FantasyLife account.
  • Date of Birth - by default, for all new accounts Date of Birth is not publicly displayed, but you may choose to display it (or not display it) through controls inside your FantasyLife account.

Profile Information

After you have registered for a FantasyLife account, you are given the opportunity to fill out information on our profile pages. Filling out the profile pages is optional - you are not required to fill out any of the profile information. If you choose to fill out the profile information, please note that this information will be posted on your FantasyLife Site (See "Information Submitted to Your FantasyLife Site") and will potentially be accessible to the entire world.

Information Submitted to Your FantasyLife Site

As a registered member of FantasyLife, you get a personal website (called a "FantasyLife Site") where you can publish weblog entries, photos, additional profile information, etc. When you "publish" information to your FantasyLife Site, this means you are sharing the information publicly, unless you choose to use FantasyLife features designed to help you control access to this information. For information on the features designed to help you control access to your information, see "MANAGING AND PROTECTING YOUR INFORMATION" below.

Other individuals may submit information to your FantasyLife site in the form of comments. FantasyLife gives you control over who can submit comments to your FantasyLife Site and allows you to delete comments submitted to your FantasyLife Site.

Comments & Other Interactive Forums

FantasyLife offers many ways for users to interact by posting information to each others’ FantasyLife Sites or other parts of FantasyLife. These features include comments on individual weblog entries or photos, guestbook entries, chatboard entries, memories, and the like (collectively, "comments").

FantasyLife provides features designed to give you control over comments posted to your own FantasyLife Site. But please be aware that you may have no control over comments that you post anywhere else:

  • Comments on Your Own FantasyLife Site – FantasyLife gives you the ability to delete comments left on your own FantasyLife Site. For certain comment features, you also have the ability to control who (if anyone) can submit comments to your site. For more information on controls for comments, please visit our Comments FAQ at http://help.FantasyLife.com/comments.htm
  • Comments not on Your Own FantasyLife Site - if you post a comment anywhere other than your own FantasyLife Site, you may have no control over that comment - you may not be able to edit or delete it after it is submitted, and it may be copied and posted elsewhere by anyone who has access to it - so think before you submit!

Email Addresses of Others (Sending Emails through FantasyLife)

For features such as inviting others to join FantasyLife or participate in specific areas of the service (collectively, "invitations"), or for forwarding information published through the service (e.g. specific weblog entries), you may provide email addresses of others to FantasyLife.

FantasyLife stores the email addresses that you provide and uses them solely to contact the owner of the email address. For invitations (such as invitations to join a network of "FantasyLife Friends"), FantasyLife sends one invitation email and may send multiple invitation reminders; for other email-based communications, FantasyLife sends an email specific to that communication (e.g. a copy of a specific weblog entry that you are forwarding). FantasyLife does not share, sell or rent these email addresses with any third parties (other than certain contractors performing work for FantasyLife under confidentiality agreements - see "INFORMATION SHARING AND DISCLOSURE" below).

Recipients of invitations who are not registered FantasyLife members can request that their emails be added to a "black list" to which FantasyLife sends no further invitations. Recipients who are registered FantasyLife members can control whether they receive certain invitations or other email-based communications by using the settings inside their FantasyLife accounts.

Verification of Parental (or Guardian) Status

Persons under the age of 16 are not permitted to become FantasyLife members and it is FantasyLife’s policy not to collect any personally identifiable information from persons under 16. If you discover that your child under the age of 16 has obtained a FantasyLife account, you may alert FantasyLife and request that FantasyLife close the account. In this case FantasyLife verifies that you are the child’s parent or legal guardian by asking you to provide the following information:

  • Your child’s full name
  • Your child’s FantasyLife username
  • Your child’s birthday
  • Your full name
  • Your relationship to the child (parent or legal guardian)
  • Your full mailing address
  • Your daytime and evening telephone number
  • Your e-mail address
  • A signed statement that you are 18 or older and the child’s parent or legal guardian.
FantasyLife uses this information in order to verify that you are the parent or legal guardian of a child under 16. We retain this information in order to keep a record or our verification that you are the parent or legal guardian of your child under 16.

Other Information Collected by FantasyLife

Every time you visit a page on the Internet, your web browser sends specific information to the web site you are visiting. FantasyLife's servers automatically collect and store this information, including your IP address, specific type of browser software, the pages you visit at FantasyLife, and information from FantasyLife cookies (see below).

Cookies

FantasyLife may set and access FantasyLife cookies on your computer.

Like most sites that have interactive features, FantasyLife uses cookies to recognize you when you return to FantasyLife and to keep track of when you are signed in (so you don't have to re-sign in every time you visit a new page at FantasyLife).

FantasyLife also uses cookies to target advertisements based on information provided by you (e.g. profile information suggesting age, gender, or interests), browser information (e.g. geographic location based on your IP address), or past activities on FantasyLife (e.g. whether or not you’ve seen or responded to a specific advertisement already).

Some third-party advertisers may also set and access their own cookies on your computer. Other companies' use of their cookies is subject to their own privacy policies, not this one.

Most browsers come with the ability to restrict cookies from specific or unknown sources. Please review your browser’s documentation for more information. Please be aware, however, that many FantasyLife features will not be available to you if you block the placement of our cookies on your computer.

Error Logs

If an error occurs in FantasyLife’s systems while you are using the service, FantasyLife’s servers may automatically collect and store information relating to that error, including your browser information, information from FantasyLife cookies, and other information that you may have input at the time the error occurred (e.g. information you had written into any web forms). FantasyLife uses this information solely to investigate the error and help prevent future errors.

How We Use The Information Collected

FantasyLife owns the information collected via the Site. As applicable, the information you provide to us may be used to:

  • Contact you about the Site.
  • Contact you relating to your membership status.
  • Monitor or improve the use of the Site.
  • Customize the advertising and content you see.
  • Monitor compliance with our Site Terms of Service.
  • Provide special offers to you from us and/or our respective affiliates, subsidiaries and other third parties.

With Whom The Information May Be Shared

At times, we may share your personally identifiable information with others for various purposes. The following outlines the ways in which your information may be shared with others:

Agents

We employ other businesses, certain services and individuals to perform functions on our behalf. Examples include fulfilling orders, sending e-mail, removing repetitive information from customer lists, Site analysis, data analysis, marketing assistance, credit card payment processing, and customer service. These agents may have access to personally identifiable information needed to perform their functions, but may not use it for other purposes.

Promotional Offers

We may send offers to you on behalf of other partners. When we do this, we do not give that partner your name and address. If you do not want to receive such offers, you may opt out in the email or change your preferences.

Aggregate Information

We may share aggregate information such as demographics and Site usage statistics to advertisers, sponsors or other organizations. When this type of information is shared, the other parties do not have access to your personally identifiable information.

Co-Registration Programs

Throughout the Site you may be presented with an opportunity to receive special offers from third parties. Opt-in or opt-out messages will ask you if you would like your information to be shared. If you do choose to have your information shared, your information will be subject to the privacy policy of such third parties. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these other companies and, therefore, you should review the privacy practices of such companies prior to providing your personally identifiable information.

Third-Party Ad Serving & Audience and Traffic Measurement Services

The Site may use third party network advertisers to serve the advertisements on the Site and may use a traffic measurement service to analyze the traffic on the Site. Network advertisers are third parties that display advertisements based on your visits to this Site and other Web sites you have visited. Third-party ad serving enables us to target advertisements to you for products and services you might be interested in. Although advertisers and other companies do not have access to your cookies as provided by the Site, the Site's third party network advertisers, the advertisers, the sponsors, and/or traffic measurement services may themselves set and access their own cookies on your computer if you choose to have cookies enabled in your browser. These third party cookies are set for purposes including but not limited to targeting advertisements to you that you might be interested in, to prevent you from seeing the same advertisements too many times and to conduct research regarding how useful certain advertisements are to you. Note that any images (or any other parts of a web page) served by third parties in association with third party cookies may serve as web beacons, which enable third parties to carry out the previously described activities. Third party cookies are governed by each third party's specific privacy policy, not this one.

Our Subsidiaries and Affiliates

We may share your information (including, without limitation, personally identifiable information) with our subsidiaries and affiliates.

Business Transfers

FantasyLife.com, Inc. or any of it assets, including the Site, may be sold, or other transactions may occur in which your personally identifiable information is one of the key business assets. In such a case, your personally identifiable information, which we have gathered, may be one of the business assets we transfer.

Legal Process

In the event we are required to respond to subpoenas, court orders or other legal process, your personally identifiable information may be disclosed pursuant to such subpoena, court order or legal process, which may be without notice to you.
